ALLEN TOWNSHIP BOARD OF TRUSTEES

March 27, 2019

Special Meeting Minutes

 

 

Call to Order

Trustee Rausch, as Chairman called the special meeting of the Allen Township Trustees to order on March 27, 2019, at 10:30 a.m.

 

Pledge of Allegiance

Trustee Rausch began the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance.

FINANCES & ADMINISTRATION

Discussed local contractors for the CDC grant that was approved for the handicap accessibility improvements.

No items.

 

ROAD BUSINESS

Road Superintendent, Nick Johnson presented the estimate of $10,240 for landscaping services.  The motion was made by Trustee Rausch and seconded by Trustee Chapman to approve the estimate.

 

Road Superintendent, Nick Johnson noted the playground is going to need several loads of playground mulch this season.

 

There was a discussion for spring clean-up regarding costs and hours.  The cost per dumpster has gone up to $800.00. The hours will be from shortened from previous year’s hours.  Road Superintendent, Nick Johnson will look into other options for service.

 

FIRE & EMERGENCY SERVICES

 

Chief, Steve Brose noted that three firemen will be leaving for another fire department. The issue is not being able to pay the salary that other departments pay.

 

Chief, Steve Brose presented financial reports outlining the upcoming revenue/expenses in the next 13 years.  The phase out of the tangible personal property tax 2009 has had a large impact on the township revenue.  Discussed what other funding options are available to townships.  There was a a detailed

 

 

 

 

discussion of the necessary tax levies in the year 2022 to continue to provide, maintain the fire department and the general fund.

 

Discussed the need to form a committee and to educuate the township on the isses of the necessary revenue for the township.

 

CORRESPONDENCE/OTHER MISCELLANEOUS

 

There being no further business, Trustee McCreary moved to adjourn the meeting, Trustee Rausch offered a second.  Upon a roll call vote, all being in favor, the meeting was adjourned.
