Allen Township is home to at least five Ghost Towns, Coberly’s, Stringtown, Pottersburg, Allen Center, and Buck Run. Pottersburg was the most established town as the railroad helped to maintain its existence. Allen Center, although not much of a town in its day, stayed on the map with the school house and now the fire department. Coberly’s, now just and intersection on the road, provided many of the township officials in the early years. Buck Run tried to stay on the map with a Post Office and school house but quickly faded away. Stringtown, little is known about this town but with only a school house and several residents homes in the day it too is gone.
